Germination and Growth Performance of Water-Saving and Drought-Resistant Rice Enhanced by Seed Treatment with Wood Vinegar and Biochar under Dry Direct-Seeded System

Dry direct-seeded rice (dry-DSR) is an efficient, resource-saving and environmentally friendly cropping system. The employment of water-saving drought-resistant (WDR) for dry direct-seeding can better meet the needs dry-direct seeding systems. However, decline in seedling emergence rate poor growth are main bottlenecks under current production. Seed treatment a sustainable effective technique to overcome these issues. Therefore, chamber field experiments were conducted assess impact poplar wood vinegar (WV) priming straw biochar (BC) coating on emergence, establishment, growth, physio-biochemical events, ultimate yield. We treated seeds WDR viz., Hanyou 73 with WV, BC, co-treatment WV + BC. results showed that seed 1:50 concentration 20% BC content was optimal ratio promoting germination growth. evaluation indicated individual markedly promoted final by 58% 31%, respectively, while increased 67%. Likewise, significantly enhanced total biomass 26% 10%, respective enhancement 31%. For yield, produced 12% 19% higher grain whereas yielded 20%. above revealed most treatment. Our findings may provide new avenues advancing pre-sowing treatments facilitating stand establishment yield rice.
